Combating youth unemployment with JOBLINGE

zeb is a founding partner of JOBLINGE Stuttgart, one of the initiative’s 30 locations across Germany that help young people make the move from unemployment into the world of work.


zeb.move business-coaching GmbH, headed by Managing Director Claus Peter Hendricks, actively supports the initiative as a founding shareholder. Claus Peter Hendricks is also a member of the Supervisory Board of JOBLINGE Stuttgart. He explains how zeb has been providing dedicated and practical support to Stuttgart jobseekers for many years.

Why is zeb involved in helping young people who are not in training or work, at school or at university?

Claus Peter Hendricks: For us, this commitment is an important contribution to society; it is about social cohesion and prospects rather than recruitment targets. Since its foundation in 2008, JOBLINGE has helped more than 17,000 young people aged between 15 and 25 to write CVs, respond to job advertisements and prepare for job interviews – with a success rate of 80 percent. We have been involved in Stuttgart since 2014, and currently around 80 participants complete the program every year.

 

So zeb not only supports young people financially, but also through personal commitment?

Claus Peter Hendricks: Exactly. Of course, financial support matters, but the personal commitment of zeb employees is every bit as important. Over the years, colleagues have made themselves available as mentors, advising and supporting young people. This requires regularity and warmth, but honesty and criticism, if necessary, are also essential. This role enables us to communicate the importance of gender equality or teamwork, for example. We provide coaching and mentoring to help JOBLINGE employees cope with their challenging everyday work.

 

Does zeb transfer its expertise from management consulting to its JOBLINGE activities?

Claus Peter Hendricks: Absolutely. The work at JOBLINGE is demanding, and we contribute our practical experience. In hands-on workshops, we demonstrate how challenges can be solved in a team. For example, we carry out motive structure analyses to promote the ability to reflect and collaborate. We then help the participants to transfer these insights into their everyday lives. This creates a close link between our consulting work and supporting young people in a practical, motivating and lasting way.
