Using a robust methodology combined with insightful projections from the European Central Bank and national banks, we have developed a forecast model to estimate the potential fee pool for various payment archetypes across European nations.
𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: The payments-related fee pool in the retail sector is set to grow at an impressive annual rate of 7% over the next few years. When considering the anticipated annual inflation rate of 2.3% and a real GDP growth of 1.2%, we find that payment fees closely mirror the trajectory of nominal GDP growth.
As we analyze these projections, several emerging trends are becoming evident—trends that will significantly shape the industry landscape.
