History

When you’ve been successful for 30 years, it’s nice to look back at your achievements.

Prof. Dr. Dres. h. c. Henner Schierenbeck and Prof. Dr. Bernd Rolfes founded the management consultancy zeb.rolfes.schierenbeck.associates in Münster in 1992. Today, zeb is one of Europe’s leading strategy, management and IT consultancies specialising in the financial services sector – with more than 1,200 employees across 15 offices.

Prof. Dr. Bernd Rolfes

Having completed his undergraduate studies in Business Administration at the University of Münster (WWU), he went on to gain his doctorate there in 1985. From 1986 to 1990, he was a fellow of the German Research Foundation (DFG). He gained his postdoctoral lecturing qualification at the University of Münster in 1990.

Since 1991, Bernd Rolfes has held a professorship for Banking and Corporate Finance at the University of Duisburg-Essen. In 1992, he was appointed chairman of the “Arbeitskreis Betriebswirtschaftslehre” (Business Administration workgroup) at the University of Duisburg. From 2001 to 2004, he was the director of the faculty for Business Studies at Gerhard Mercator University. Bernd Rolfes also sits on the advisory board of the zeb.business school at Steinbeis University Berlin.

Prof. Dr. Dres. h. c. Henner Schierenbeck

Having obtained his degree in Business Administration from the Freie Universität Berlin, Henner Schierenbeck gained his doctorate and his post-doctoral lecturing qualification at the University of Freiburg (Breisgau). From 1978 to 1980, he held a university professorship for Corporate Accounting and then until 1990 for Bank Management at the University of Münster (WWU).

From 1990 until his retirement in January 2010, Henner Schierenbeck was a tenured professor for Bank Management and Controlling at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Basel. In addition, he held various positions on academic advisory boards and committees, amongst others at the zeb.business school, which is part of Steinbeis University Berlin.

Henner Schierenbeck authored and edited of a number of books on banking and insurance and also penned numerous articles for specialist magazines.

The University of Latvia in Riga and the Mercator School of Management in Duisburg, Germany, awarded him an honorary doctoral degree in 1999 and 2005 respectively. In 2007 he received the Dr. Kausch Award.
