zeb.great women 2019

Change viewpoints, gain new perspectives—was the motto of this year’s “zeb.great women” meeting last Friday. For the ninth time, the well-established network for women in management positions in the financial services and insurance industry had issued invitations to Frankfurt and asked three prominent guests to present their views on the financial services sector and digitalization.

Christine Kiefer, who has been a member of the Federal Ministry of Finance’s Fintech Council for one year and founded the “Fintech Ladies”, took both a critical and a personal look at the digitalization efforts of the financial services industry and their need for political support. Edda Vogt, communication and digitalization expert for financial market topics at Deutsche Börse AG, involved the customer’s perspective and gave insights into the successful use of various platforms for corporate communications.

In the early evening, the participants were offered a completely different perspective. The astrophysicist and researcher at the ESO (European Southern Observatory), Dr. Suzanna Randall, is part of the “Female Astronaut” initiative and a candidate for the first German woman to fly into space. She took those present on a journey to the stars and gave a memorable account of her preparations for her impressive mission.

Dr. Katrin Lumma, initiator of zeb.great women: “Networking helps women in leadership positions develop their own perspectives. We venture to think outside the box and try to rethink matters and, if necessary, act differently. In this context, the idea of zeb.great women has become one of the most interesting networking platforms for female players in the German financial industry. The positive feedback shows us time and again how important it is to keep in touch and to keep networking.”

About zeb.great women

The “zeb.great women” network meets annually to exchange views and to discuss current topics in the financial services and insurance sector. Moreover, the participants are in regular contact with each other and keep the informal character of the network alive at additional meetings.

Women continue to be underrepresented in executive positions in the financial services and insurance industry. Only 26% of all management positions is occupied by women. Over the past few years, several initiatives besides zeb.great women have set themselves the goal of increasing the share of female managers. At the same time, the financial services and insurance sector has clearly intensified its efforts to attract highly qualified women for management tasks.
