Everyone in Germany still remembers it: the Quelle mail order catalog. Where is the brand today? Is Quelle still around at all? From the mid-1990s onwards, digital retail platforms enjoyed continuous success with their ease of use, lightning-fast adjustments in response to new trends, and cheaper product and delivery costs. This trend was underestimated for many years by the management of the Quelle Group until they finally managed to enter the online retail market in 2009 – but by then it was too late to catch up with the digital competition.
The lessons that asset managers can learn from this, the process steps that offer the greatest potential for automation and digitalization, and the starting points for full-scale digital transformation are examined in more detail below.
